I'll be honest, I haven't been knitting. And most of the crochet I've done has been doll hair related. I have been working on this Totoro for the Beast's upcoming birthday, though. It's coming along slowly. I've finished reading Wildwood. It was good but I wasn't as blown away as I wanted to be. Now I'm reading Embrace the Night by Karen Chance. It's the third book in a series that I've read several times.
Isn't it such a disappointment to NOT be blown away when you were anticipating it? Apart from being a cool-sounding something, what's a Totoro?
ReplyDeleteTotoro is a.. forest spirit. Sort of. He's from a Miyazaki film called My Neighbor Totoro. We're a bit obsessed around here. (:
DeleteI have seen Wildwood making the rounds and did entertain the thought of reading it, but honestly it just doesn't interest me that much. I'm sorry it wasn't that great for you. And it's a big book to isn't it?! Oh my.
ReplyDeleteHow old will the Beast be on his birthday? We have 5 birthday's coming up in April and I have a lot of cake baking to do!
He'll be 2!
DeleteThe thing with Wildwood.. it's a typical fairy tale, in my opinion. Maybe it means more to people who have been to Portland. But I read *a lot* of fairy tales (modern and old) so it wasn't very full of surprises for me. It was wonderfully written and delightful to read. I guess I was just expecting... more.
Hmm, I'm hoping you get to knit more this week! But the doll making is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThe problem (well, besides being slightly obsessed with the dolls) is that my current knitting project isn't something I'm in love with. I'm sort of redoing a simple version of the Forest Nymph capelet I made a while ago. But in a cotton/wool blend for the boys to play with. And it's just... boring.
DeleteI don't know what a Totoro is, but the pieces look awfully intriguing. Will you share when you are done?

DeleteAnd of course I'll share the finished toy! How could I possibly not? (:
AWESOME! We love Totoro, too. I made a very inferior small one for my daughter's second birthday and she still adores it even if it *is* squashed right out of shape haha. Excited to see how yours turns out, he looks so neat!
