More Gnome Love

Thank you all for your kind comments about my gnomes in the last post! Here are some in-progress additions:

Lightning gnomes to go with my other weather gnomes.

Chore gnomes! It was harder than I thought, finding simple pictures that would (mostly) universally represent common tasks. I tried to avoid having images of people and hands - very difficult.

Days of the week gnomes! The "angel" shaped ones are a tiny bit smaller than the average peg person. The "boy" gnomes are the teeny ones that come up to the shoulders of most peg people. I'll have to come up with something better for Sunday (white) because my current paint just isn't cutting it.

They will all be rubbed with beeswax polish and given hats. I'm in the process of dyeing more wool felt for them. What do you think?

  1. Ummm, love them!!! seriously, Melissa, these turned out so great. You seriously have some wood burning skills. As far as the Sunday, really, I think once you put that white cap on the white will pop. Can't wait to see them finished!!

  4. Chore gnomes... how fabulous! Now if I could only get my little gnome to do his chores without some serious fussing & moaning, I'd be thrilled. And how esp. useful... gnomes for "getting ready in the morning rituals" -- putting on cloths (socks!) & brushing teeth. Maybe you can make one for eating breakfast? For my reluctant eater, apparently this is a chore. (There is the cat-food bowl gnome, but my older boy doesn't eat cat-food for breakfast... My younger child, however, would gladly do so, given the opportunity!)

  5. They are BRILLIANT! I think you rendered the chores VERY cleverly, clearly, and beautifully. Did I just say "beautiful" in reference to chores?

  6. Chore Gnomes are a great idea (love the chicken)! We've got a chart with magnets for chores, but we use peg people at bedtime to represent the three apres lights-out visits Ellie gets. Ours are undecorated and boring since it was a last minute idea - gnomes are WAY cuter!

  7. I think that although the hats are monotonous work, they are the greatest little gnomes! and I an honored to have one sitting in my window sill! (from the one hook wonder swap)
