Knit knit knit

Here's what I've been up to.

Scarf knit from corespun and plied yarn. Soon to be in the Etsy shop.

Shawl of my own design (nothing complicated, but I didn't follow a pattern is all) knit entirely from my handspun yarns. Also destined for my Etsy shop.

B's knit pants. They've been done for a while but I've been too lazy to get pictures.

Fingerless gloves. Handspun and Etsy bound. Whee!

Yarn

I finally finished B's pants!

I'm still working on the duotone throw. It's great for watching movies - I can just knit away without paying attention. I'm feeling a definite need for something more involved right now to go with it, though.

To that end, I'm going to rifle through my Etsy yarns and knit a shawl. A shawl that I will be designing on my own with only a basic recipe to follow. It won't be an amazing new design, that isn't the point. The point is that no one is buying my yarn and I feel bad. To get rid of the bad feeling, I'm getting rid of the yarn.

I will be waiting until tonight or tomorrow morning to do this, though. Because I thought I'd give anyone interested a chance to buy or swap for any yarn that catches their fancy before I take it out of the shop. The coupon code "flighty" still works for 20% off, too.

Wow

Gosh. So. I disappeared.

The short is that we all got the flu. And now, more than a week later, we're all mostly better. We had a good Solstice and tomorrow we'll head to my father's house for the morning.

Now, pictures!

Late Yarn Along

Everyone has been feeling craptacular at our house. Well, not the Elf. He's been just as loud and crazy as usual. The Beast, too, I guess. My two "little" brown-eyed boys (little, to exclude B, that is). Always full of energy. At any rate, I wasn't feeling quite up to the task of posting yesterday. So here I am, a day late.

I'm reading Into the Woods by Kim Harrison. It's a collection of short stories based on her Hollows series. These are B's knit pants. They're coming along quite well and I'm enjoying picking out which scrap of color to use next. It's funny. I can look at these pants and identify what project I used the original yarns for. It's like a catalog of my knitting life.

This is a dalek for my sister and her family. They are all completely obsessed with Doctor Who (which I have never watched). Let me tell you, this little guy is a pain in the neck. Front post single crochet? Really? Lots if them? The yarn I'm using for the gold part was a mistake, but the only gold I had. Here's hoping they appreciate it (because I've already injured my finger working on it).

Appa. I started him... in July (yes, I had to go check). I've more or less run out of yarn so I'll have to pick some up when I go knitting tomorrow.

Somehow I've managed to either get a teeny splinter in my index finger on my right hand (unlikely) or I've developed a teeny blister. Gee. With all this crocheting.. it's no wonder, I guess. Will this stop me? No! Of course not! But it will slow me down.

Test Knitting

Yesterday I spent the day taking care of a sick Imp. I also started test knitting a shawl for Catilin Ffrench. Today I've been looking after a sick husband. I also finished said shawl and test knit a critter for Linda Dawkins.

Here is my day:

Weekending

I spent the weekend dyeing and blocking my Arsenic and Old Lace shawl. That's right. I finally finished it.

The color isn't as even as I'd like. My largest stock pot is my dye pot. At least 10 quarts. Or maybe 8. I don't know. At any rate it isn't large enough for the shawl to have had room to move. I also don't have a cat/dog/child-free area large enough to block it properly. So I just laid it on my skirting table.

This week I'm going to test knit two patterns. I'm very excited. One is a critter by Linda Dawkins and the other a shawl by Caitlin Ffrench. So excited! It's not that I don't love working on B's knit pants (I'm on the first leg already!) or Appa (I started working on it again yesterday - the Elf guilt-tripped me). I'm ready for something new, though.

Speaking on new. I should share with you the Kerbal I made yesterday for B. He still needs a helmet and I'm not sure how I'll go about doing that. And the Master Chief doll I crocheted without a pattern. I tried to write the pattern out but I sort of failed to accurately describe the hemlet. Meh. Oh. And the roving that I dyed with carrot tops and alum. Regardless, the Beast is asking me to play with train tracks so these things will have to come later.

Go knit this awesome snowman!

Ravelry notes here.

This is how I spent my evening. My boys threw about the snowballs while I fought with sock yarn for the hat.
